Since its creation in 1968, the lake of Salagou, located in the middle of Languedoc in the department of Herault, was never emptied. It contains according to the statement of the local fishermen of monstrous fish. This lake profits from a soft Mediterranean climate which is characterized by an exceptional sunning of more than 2500 hours a year. Even in winter, the temperature of water seldom goes down below 7°C. Nothing astonishing whereas under these extraordinary conditions the pikes, like besides other fish of the lake, remain active and feeds throughout the year and consequently has a growth twice faster than in the remainder of the country. Here perhaps what explains the presence in the lake of if a large number of large pikes, from 15 to 20 kg.
