La pesca al colpo è la pesca più classica. Bisogna munirsi di una canna da pesca al colpo a cui è stato attaccato il filo che sostiene il galleggiante, il piombo e l’amo.
La canna da pesca al colpo è telescopica e misura dai 3 ai 6 metri, se destinata alla pesca dal bordo o per i piccoli pesci.
La canna roubaisienne ha una lunghezza importante, andando fino a 13,50 metri, usata per esempio durante le gare.
Il pescatore pratica la pesca seduto su un paniere che può essere anche molto sofisticato. La pastura è normalmente fabbricata con della farina e degli additivi.
Ovviamente, una grande gamma di accessori accompagna il pescatore: lenze montate, guadini, nasse, secchi, bacinelle, setacci, scatole porta esche, utensili.
La pesca inglese si pratica nello stesso modo, tranne per il fatto che la canna da pesca all’inglese è equipaggiata di un mulinello all’inglese. Il galleggiante si chiama quindi waggler.
