The Sahara range of front-drag reels combines a modern design with Shimano's best technical features. Perfect for many freshwater and saltwater fishing methods, it's a mid-priced reel offering lasting performance and great versatility. One look is enough to understand that the Sahara is a reel that means business. The sleek look is matched by an impressive range of technologies in a combination that belies the remarkably affordable price. With the classic black and gold colours, the Sahara is quiet, ultra-smooth, and if you prefer to play the fish by reeling in, there is an anti-reverse mechanism to complement the front drag. With a wide range of models available, the Sahara completely redefines reels in this price category and never fails to impress.

The first thing you'll notice when using the Sahara is its smoothness, quietness and astonishing rotational power, especially when you're fishing for pressured fish. This is due to a combination of HAGANE Gear, X-SHIP and Silent Drive. This technical trilogy is usually found on higher-priced Shimano reels, and is an unexpected bonus for all Sahara owners. Use the reel on the lightest rods and you'll appreciate the balance of the G-Free body. Put the largest 5000 size on a lure rod or a heavy feeder rod and you'll appreciate the extra strength of the direct-screw handle and the smooth casting performance of the AR-C spool with Varispeed II oscillation. If you fish with finesse, take a look at the miniature 500 size, or the slightly larger 1000 model. For light and medium lure fishing, float fishing and feeder fishing, the mid sizes 2000, 2500 and 3000 are a joy to use.
