The Japanese leader SUNLINE manufactures and develops braids, nylons and fluorocarbons since 1977 thanks to a manufacturing plant equipped with highly technological machines and a very active and efficient "Research and development" department. SUNLINE is also renowned worldwide for the reliability of its products and the veracity of the performances indicated on the packaging (IGFA approved products for record approval). Indeed, SUNLINE ensures extremely rigorous control over its products released on the market with machines connected to computers capable of testing and measuring the resistance of a nylon, a fluorocarbon and a braid (polyester and polyethylene). These highly performing machines are also capable of measuring knot resistance, abrasion resistance, UV resistance, resonance, sliding, braiding intensity etc... Only a manufacturer is capable of providing this kind of information and saves us from unpleasant surprises!
This year is for SUNLINE the culmination of several years of research and technological advancement in manufacturing. Indeed, SUNLINE is launching a new completely exceptional, unique and innovative braid on the market: SIGLON ADV (Advanced). This is the result of a new manufacturing technology that integrates resin with the polyethylene fibers of the braid (DRT, Deep Resin Technology). This new manufacturing process gives this 8 strand all the advantages of an 8 strand but also those of a 4 strand.
Completely waterproof, SIGLON ADV is protected against water infiltration and therefore lasts much longer than a standard braid even of high quality. Indeed, SUNLINE has noticed that even a very high quality braid ideally manufactured (braiding speed and consistent tension), air is always present in the polyethylene fibers and absorbs water when the braid is submerged. The water never completely dries in the reel and turns into molds (microscopic views) and affects the resistance and quality of the braid over time.
This impermeability also gives it incredible penetration in the water and considerably limits the banner caused by the current or drift. Less slowed down by water, the lure or the leads also reach the bottom faster. Tests were carried out with the same weight and exactly the same diameter of braid (a standard braid and SIGLON ADV) and each time, the lead attached to the SIGLON ADV arrived at the bottom first. This is a point, perhaps insignificant for shallow depths (20m) but so appreciable at higher depths (over 100 m).
SIGLON ADV is sinking (density index greater than water) which gives it very good behavior in the water particularly when fishing in waves that have the annoying tendency to carry the braid when it is floating. Its performances of "direct" resistance and at the knot are of course also up to the expectations but the most impressive is the abrasion resistance of SIGLON ADV, four times superior to a high quality braid in the market. Tests were done with a machine that rubs the braid on an abrasive paper and counts the number of back and forth: 135 passes before breaking on a standard braid, 404 on SIGLON ADV!
The DRT resin treatment also brings many advantages such as excellent sliding and very good performances at casting against the wind!
