We optimized this wide-eye Texas hook in collaboration with the manufacturer VMC, according to our specifications. The barb is quite small. Combined with the “slippery” PTFE coating, this allows the hook to penetrate the fish’s mouth perfectly. A smaller barb is also more respectful of fish. But don’t worry: the barb is large enough for the point to remain firmly anchored in the fish’s mouth, even when it shakes its head violently. In addition to using it with the Rushka and Cheburashka, you can also use the Wide Gap Screw Hook for dropshot, Carolina, Texas, Free and Kickback rigs, for soft jerking (preferably combined with Tungsten Nail weights), or for numerous other possible applications when fishing with a Texas hook. The Wide Gap Screw Hook is equipped with a removable spiral serving as a Baitkeeper. Your lure remains intact and is held securely in the perfect position on the hook. Thanks to the clip located on the front eyelet, you can also remove the spiral from the hook very easily. Depending on your needs, you can therefore fish with or without the spiral. The “resin tip” located at the bend of the Texas hook also serves, when threading directly, as a kind of bait holder for the head of the soft plastic lure. You can purchase replacement split spirals from us if you happen to lose any. The spiral is secured by two “resin tips” between the eyelet and the hook shank. The front protrusion simultaneously closes the sharp-edged slit at the lower end of the eyelet. If, with certain techniques, you tie the Wide Gap Screw Hook directly to your leader, there is no risk of the fluorocarbon or fine steel being damaged or caught at this point. You can use the larger versions not only for perch fishing, but also for pike fishing. Thanks to its wide bend, the Wide Gap Screw Hook can also be combined with bulky soft plastic lures.
