A very well-camouflaged and carefully designed back lead can be easily placed on your main line. The top part of this lead has been made from a very smooth material and has an optimized shape to ensure it slides along the main line with as little resistance as possible.

The sleeve that connects the two parts is fairly stiff and designed to stay together. Only with a reasonable amount of pressure will the two parts separate. By pushing the sleeve further onto the top part of the back lead, the angler can increase the amount of pressure required to release the lead.
