Two main choices will be available for the carp fisher who wishes to choose his carp fishing equipment from pêcheur.com: a classic front drag reel or a freespool carp reel.
The freespool is aimed at beginners who will appreciate going from the free spool to a spool ready to fight the carp in one turn of the crank. The best-known clutching system is undoubtedly Shimano's « Baitrunner». Other brands offer their own freespools: Daiwa, Cormoran, Dam, Okuma, Mitchell, Prowess, Quantum Radical, Zebco. Other carp fishers will prefer the front drag reels which for carp fishing will have a "long cast" spool (long distance carp fishing) whether for long throwing or for terminal tackle by boat. The brands for these carp reels are: Daiwa, Caperlan, Cormoran, Dam, Fox, Okuma, Penn, Mitchell, Prowess, Quantum Radical, Ryobi and Wychwood.
