the kaizen rod range has been in development for over four years and was born from the belief that we could develop premium rods even better than those already on the market. although this is a first for korda, we have drawn on the extensive knowledge and experience of our team of anglers and our product development office to produce an exceptional range of rods.

all our premium kaizen rods are built on a fast tapered blank, which means the taper of the rod runs consistently from the butt to the tip. this produces rods with tip action, with virtually all the flex towards the tip. of course, when subjected to extreme pressure, such as during a cast, the rod will still bend along its full length to some extent. this type of action allows better power transfer and the generation of very fast tip speed, letting you cast farther and more accurately.

the same action ensures quicker contact with the fish: while the initial action is mainly localized in the rod tip (tip action), the power is transferred quite progressively to prevent any risk of the hook pulling out in the event of a big fish rush at short range; this progression also ensures that it remains enjoyable to fight any fish on all the kaizen rods.

the kaizen range has a bespoke look, with the kind of high-quality components you would expect on a rod at this price. the blank is coated with a durable, matt clear paint that showcases the carbon, which has been thoroughly tested to ensure its durability. essentially, this means it is incredibly durable and will take a long time to show signs of deterioration from sun and/or moisture exposure.

• high-quality Japanese carbon with excellent tensile strength.
• fast tapered profile for improved resistance to compression.
• anti-glare matte paint finish.
• lightweight sea-guide tdg rings
• 50 mm butt ring and 16 mm tip ring on all models.
• tapered Japanese “shrink” handle.
• stainless steel cap engraved by jag.
• fuji dps reel seat.

if you are not looking to fish at long range and rod action is your priority, then the aizen platinum 12ft 3lb rod is the best model for you. it is still capable of casting a rig beyond 100 metres if required, but being the most flexible in the range it provides the most accurate casts at shorter distances. the butt and mid section of the rod still deliver plenty of power when it comes to controlling very large fish at short range or fishing crowded venues, and its slightly more forgiving action means you can really apply pressure when needed without fear of the hook pulling out. recommended casting weight: 1-3oz.

the kaizen platinum 12ft 3.5lb rod is a perfect all-rounder and the best option for carp anglers who want as much versatility as possible from a single set of rods. the light, perfectly balanced blank can accommodate the most delicate precision casts on a minimalist venue, up to 35+ wrap casts on a vast lake. it's the ideal model if you want a premium set of rods that can do it all. recommended casting weight: 2-4oz.

the 12ft 4lb version is designed as a long-range casting tool for those who don't want to move up to a longer rod. it is incredibly powerful, and some anglers will find it easier to use to its full potential than they would with a longer rod. although it is a casting-dedicated model, it still retains some action and is by no means a broom handle. recommended casting weight: 3-5oz.

if you prefer a 13ft rod and want something that can be used to propel a rig to the horizon but also has a tip forgiving enough to be pleasant for playing fish and comfortable for accurate lead casts at less extreme distances, then this 3.5lb power model is certainly the one for you. unless you are seeking an extreme-range tool, this is the one most people will choose in 13ft. recommended casting weight: 2-4oz.

of the whole range, this rod produced the longest casts during testing, measured at over 200 metres using a 4 oz lead with a rig and a 15mm bait. it is designed for 3-5 oz casts but has been optimised for use with 4 oz leads. if you are looking for the ultimate premium casting rod and nothing else matters, this is the model for you, but it will take practice and technique to achieve the best results. recommended casting weight: 3-5oz.

danny fairbrass personally designed this rod by adapting one of his favourite blanks – slightly shortening the tip and the butt to create a 12ft 6in. rod with a slightly higher 4lb power. this rod is incredibly powerful and is designed primarily as a long-distance casting tool – it is very likely the most powerful rod in the kaizen range, and unless you prefer the extra six inches that the 13ft model provides, it is the best choice for extreme-range casting. recommended casting weight: 3-5oz.
