Realistic lures of all shapes and sizes have been popular for decades, but few of them come close to those handcrafted by Tomy's Bait. Today, we are pleased to announce that Westin has partnered with Tomy to make his Original Perch lure design available worldwide.
A lifelong fascination with fish has given Tomy an unparalleled understanding of their behavior. Whether keeping fish in aquariums, scuba diving with wild fish, or fishing them, Tomy became obsessed with developing artificial baits that better mimic the natural food of predatory fish.
Originally created in 2015, Tomy's Original Perch may be his most famous lure. Developed to imitate a small perch, which in most places is an important part of predatory fish diets. The Original Perch illustrates the attention to detail Tomy applies in the search for the most realistic design possible. Pushing the boundaries of handmade lure design through continuous development, the Original Perch is now at the pinnacle of lure design.
The dynamic shape of the Original Perch was then refined by adding external fins to give it a more realistic look. Combined with the incredibly realistic hand-painted finish, the Original Perch proved irresistible to predatory fish from the start, and its reputation grew internationally as the design developed and was adopted by lure anglers in the know\".
The upturned paddle-tail design of the Original Perch has become a signature element of Tomy's lures and gives them a unique action. Not only does the tail design give the lure a unique and realistic movement, but it also kicks at slow speeds, including in free fall when the retrieve is paused. Fished with a steady or slightly erratic retrieve, the Original Perch has a super-effective action for all predatory fish.
