The Kamakura sharpening process produces a hook point that is every bit as sharp as a hand‑sharpened hook, but without you having to spend all the time and effort to do it yourself - you can be sure these hooks are perfect every time, straight out of the box. The Kamakura Wide Gape X is an upgraded version of this classic pattern, with a thicker "wire", but with a much finer point than the standard 'X' hook - you will probably need to change your hook after each fish you catch, because of the delicacy of the point. It features a slightly turned-in eye, a short shank, a pronounced bend and a beak point. It can be used with a wide variety of pop-up and bottom bait presentations, and once it hooks it has that ability to stay anchored. The points are protected by a film of wax that must be carefully removed before use, and they are supplied in a box that holds each hook securely - ten hooks in each box. Versions with or without barbs are available in sizes 4, 6 or 8.
