The XXL Monster Net is a large and robust pike landing net, yet lightweight, in which even the largest specimens can easily fit. This landing net is practically indispensable for live-bait and lure anglers who often deal with large fish. Regarding the dimensions, we made sure that it could still fit in a car and that shipping costs (and therefore the price of the landing net) would not skyrocket. In addition to the ideal size (in which even giant zander feel comfortable, of course), stability, durability and weight were extremely important factors for us during development. For the sake of durability, we decided against a folding mechanism at the head of the landing net. In terms of stability, it was important to us to use robust yet lightweight materials. After all, large landing nets are often far too heavy. That is why many anglers attach pipe insulation to the frames of their heavy metal landing nets. The buoyancy improves handling. Thanks to our XXL Monster Net, such measures are now definitely a thing of the past. The telescopic shaft of the XXL Monster Net is made of carbon. Despite its length, it is therefore very lightweight. When choosing the carbon, we naturally also placed great importance on stability. The same applies to the frame of the landing net head. It is made of aluminium coated with carbon. This perfectly combines torsional strength, durability and lightness, which is particularly important for the head. The robust metal Y-block should also be highlighted. Thanks to it, the landing net head is firmly attached to the shaft. For transport, the shaft can be slid through the Y-block. When fishing, it is pushed back up to the stop cap. By turning the large nut (clockwise), the shaft is locked in the Y-block. Caution: we recommend that you do not tighten the nut too much. On the one hand, the shaft is already sufficiently secured with light pressure; on the other hand, if you force it too much, you may subsequently have great difficulty loosening the nut after the fishing session. A tool must then be used (for example, large adjustable pliers). The handle is telescopic approximately in the middle. If you fish from the bank, this is extremely important in many places. To do this, simply turn the handle slightly as well. Turn it clockwise to lock it, and turn it in the other direction to adjust its length. The end of the handle is equipped with a robust, non-slip heat-shrink sleeve. This gives you a better grip when lifting your catch. The attachment protected by a layer of varnish above it secures the handle material. The XXL Monster Net mesh is rubber-coated (which protects the catch and prevents hooks from becoming easily caught in it) and has a 20 mm mesh size. At the bottom, we opted for an 8 mm mesh size so that, for example, weights do not slip through. We deliberately chose not to use finer mesh, as smaller mesh is gentler on fins. A removable strap is attached to the mesh and the shaft. This strap allows you to pull the net up along the shaft when bringing the fish to the bank. This prevents the long net from getting caught, for example, in vegetation along the water's edge or in the boat. It also prevents the fish from catching on the outside of the net with a hook before passing through the landing net head. Good to know: if you wish to leave your catch in the water briefly before photographing it, all that is needed is for a colleague to hold the head of the XXL Monster Net above the surface of the water (you may have a special support on the edge of your boat). Even for slightly smaller zander or pike, this landing net is ideal for briefly holding the fish while the camera is made ready. Thanks to the size of the landing net head, the fins do not easily come into contact with the mesh, ensuring the gentlest possible handling of the fish.
