You can use these sinkers anywhere your rig is likely to move, such as in rivers, on sloping bottoms, or when you fish at long range. We have calculated that you will get the same hold with a grippa of 1 oz ( 28 gr) as with a Swivel pear Lead ( pear sinker) of 2 oz ( 56 gr). You can therefore use a smaller weight, which is an advantage when you fish for barbels in rivers. A lighter weight also means less noise, so we like to use it to fish slopes delicately where a round weight might roll to the bottom. The grippa has become very popular on the continent for fishing fast-flowing rivers or for casting at very long distances by boat on large lakes.
