the spheros sw is a remarkable balance between technology and price. sturdy enough to handle all coastal and boat fishing, with hagane gearing and body to meet any challenge, the spheros even benefits from shimano's x-protect protection to ensure its longevity.
although the spheros sw has an impressive range of features and technologies, and will serve you in the most demanding situations, it is not a cheap alternative to a stella or a twin power! for coastal and boat fishing, it's an excellent low-cost option, but for continuous extreme fishing, for massive tuna, the gt, the grouper or sharks, you will get the best for this price range. that said, for anglers traveling or on holiday who want to have their own gear, the larger sizes are an excellent choice with unbeatable value for money.
the spheros sw is a practical and economical reel. with an aluminium hagane body, it's a robust reel that doesn't mess around. the hagane gear and x-ship combination is further enhanced by infinitydrive to provide a lot of smoothness and power. and it features x-protect water protection (ipx8), which prevents water from reaching important parts. however, the drag doesn't quite have the same smoothness as its pricier siblings, and there are slightly fewer ball bearings placed around the construction. that said, for all smaller, slower fish, the spheros sw is an excellent choice, backed by shimano's high-quality reputation.
