These shock leaders have been specifically designed for long-distance fishing to help you achieve maximum distance without risk of breakage. They are perfect when used in conjunction with the Long Chuck mainline. There are three different combinations of Long Chuck Tapered Leader, allowing you to match it to the breaking strength of the main line you use, thereby ensuring the neatest possible joining knot and also reducing the risk of "cracking" (this usually occurs when lines of different diameters are joined and there is a sudden change in the way they exit the spool through the top ring). Each leader measures 10 m long and includes 8 m of 30 lb/0.47 mm breaking strength line to absorb the force of the cast and protect the fish thanks to its abrasion resistance - ideal for fishing over gravel or rocks - then the final 2 metres taper from 0.47 mm (30 lb) to 0.27 mm (10 lb), 0.30 mm (12 lb) or 0.33 mm (15 lb) in diameter, depending on the version you choose. The tapered leaders share the same properties as the Long Chuck mainline, namely very low stretch to aid rod compression (heavy monos are generally quite stretchy and hinder casting), low water absorption, a light weight for their breaking strength because they are clear (dyes add weight), so they stay in the air longer, and a high tension-to-breaking-strength/diameter ratio to reduce drag. Each spool contains five leaders.
