The soft squid jig!
These squid jigs have been specifically designed for all your rig setups (drop shot, tataki), both from the shore and from a boat. Thanks to their bodies made of soft gel, the behavior of the Shamalos in the water is very lifelike. When handled vertically (e.g.: tataki), their buoyant structure gives them a slow descent and a very natural action. By day, their sturdy iridescent fabric catches the slightest glint and returns it as very attractive flashes of light. At night or at great depth, their fully phosphorescent body allows them to be detected by cephalopods from very long distances.
Because the soft body of the Shamalos perfectly matches that of a living prey, squids and cuttlefish will hold them longer in their tentacles during their attack. Likewise, their fabric coating will also allow a better grip by the suckers, further optimizing hook setting. In rigs made up of a string of several squid jigs, they are particularly well suited to the modern practice of tataki.
