Damian Clarke designed these additional weights for long-distance or tight-line fishing. The length of the STOW needing to remain the same so that the indicator unclips on a bite, Damian had to find a way to add weight without affecting the length.

The additional weights are the perfect result: they fit onto the base of the STOW, and the collar inside the weight prevents it from sliding onto the head of the Stow.
