in practice, the r4 will signal the slightest sign of activity from a carp playing with your rig in any environment. numerous settings are available and even when your rod tips are clogged by an accumulation of drifting weed or violent waves, the r4 will always alert you to everything that needs to be. never before has an alarm been able to distinguish a real bite from a false one.

roller wheel sensing
the factory setting of the r4 is based on detecting line movement via the alarm's wheel. the speed sensing technology proves particularly useful for the smallest line movements during winter fishing or when fishing around obstacles with the drag tightened.

speed sensing
two speed detection levels respond to an acceleration of line movement of 1 cm and 2 cm per second to eliminate false bites. both settings also feature the innovative drift sensing safeguard technology.

wave sensing
the wave sensing technology applies to two detection parameters to eliminate false bites caused by waves or when fishing from a boat. bite detection is triggered by movement faster than 1 cm or 2 cm per second and after 15 or 30 cm of line movement forward or backward. both detection parameters also feature the innovative drift sensing safeguard technology.

drift sensing safeguard
another major technological first is the drift sensing safeguard which eliminates false bites when there is an accumulation of drifting weed on the line. this technology complements the other systems, notably the speed sensing system, for optimized detection.

guiding light
the homecoming mode is one of the r4's main assets - designed specifically for boat anglers, a led located behind the alarm, once lit, creates a luminous reference point allowing you to return to your peg after a fight or after placing a rig at night from a boat.

night glo
to complement the launch of the revolutionary r4 alarm, the new range of night glo light indicators connects directly to the r4 body via the dedicated output using a "night glo bobbin" or "swing arm" head. the indicator heads are matched to the led colours of the r4 alarms with an additional option for black heads with a white led glow.

drop back sensing
all of the r4's sensitivity parameters are equipped with an alert for return bites, with a descending tone.
