The W3 Smokey Grey braid was developed for sea trout anglers and saltwater anglers looking for an outstanding braid. Our innovative construction produces a line that combines maximum abrasion resistance with a very smooth surface. The W3 Smokey Grey braid is made from top-quality Japanese ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMPE) fibers, with an 8X design. The W3 Smokey Grey braid uses a 32-braids-per-inch construction for a smoother surface and increased abrasion resistance. Sea trout and saltwater anglers demand a line with extra stiffness to prevent wind knots caused by repeated casts in often strong onshore winds. To achieve this, the W3 Smokey Grey is fitted with a double Dura-Coating that gives the line greater stiffness. The Dura-Coating gel process gives the braid a smoother, hydrophobic surface, reducing water absorption and friction. To achieve maximum color stability, the W3 Smokey Grey is soaked in dye vats before being oven-dried to 'set' the pigment and finally sealed with a double gel-coat for improved longevity.
