Are you looking for a lead that matches the hooking qualities of an in-line lead, that casts as far as a clip-lead system, with the same safety features? You thought that wasn’t possible? Well, this product is now available from Korda. The Cog is finally on the market. COG stands for center of gravity. What sets it apart from other leads is that the lower end of the line is attached to the heaviest part of the lead, giving it an unparalleled hooking action. In short, this system will guarantee you more hooked fish and more catches.
Why did it take so long? We tested, improved, and changed it over many years. To achieve an optimum result, numerous adjustments were necessary. We tested it on Gigantica, then on the Korda DVDs and finally watched it on the Underwater videos. It proved to be very effective.
When should you use it? It is most effective over hard gravel bottoms, sand, and fine silt rather than in weed where a helicopter rig will be more suitable. It casts as well as a clip-lead system. However, if you want to reach very long distances, it is advisable to avoid PVA bags. Its impact on the water could separate the swivel from the lead. For fishing margins or for boat drops, the COG has no equal.
At the very beginning there were only two kinds of leads: the flat pears and the distance casting. These two leads cover many fishing situations. Flat pears are recommended for fishing margins or boat drops, and the distance version for achieving long distances.
COG attachments are numbered on the swivel so they can be used with the correct lead. Don’t get them wrong, the system will lose effectiveness.
We have had very positive feedback with promising results from our testers and we look forward to more reports from anglers. We believe the COG is the answer to your problems; it is a step forward in fixed leader fishing while retaining the characteristics of a clip-lead. One thing is certain: it will allow us to catch more fish…
