The new Scope Black OPS GR range represents the most advanced specification rods ever developed within the Scope family. Designed without compromise, the Black OPS GR combines the latest blank technologies with the finest components available to deliver the ultimate Scope experience. Our objective was simple: take everything that has made Scope rods so successful and perfect every element using the best materials, engineering techniques and designs possible. At the heart of every Black OPS GR rod is a new blank design using cutting-edge Japanese Toray 40T carbon, reinforced with graphene. The addition of graphene is rather unusual in carp rods; it is more commonly found in high-end competition pole rods, where it makes them lighter, stronger and more sensitive. This next-generation combination of materials allows the blank to be lighter, slimmer and stronger than previous Scope models, while delivering a significantly faster recovery, a more responsive action and greater responsiveness throughout the rod. The action has been refined to create a crisper, more precise blank that performs effortlessly across the wide range of situations for which Scope rods are renowned; this is undoubtedly the best-casting Scope we have ever made. For a short rod, its casting ability is impressive: distances of up to 200 yards (approximately 180 metres) have been achieved by our in-house tester, Jermaine Hull (World Casting Champion – with the 10 ft 3.75 lb model). This is testament to the performance and durability of the new blanks, materials and rod design. In addition, every component has been selected to match the blank’s performance. The all-new ALPS CWG-AI reel seat features a carbon insert, an integrated rubber section and double machined locking rings, providing exceptional reel security and optimum comfort in the hand. The new SeaGuide TCDG guides benefit from advanced Adaman coating technology, which prevents grooves forming through heavy use, and a raised profile for optimum line management when casting, while the PE braid handle offers outstanding durability, comfort and ease of maintenance. The same uncompromising approach is reflected in every last detail. Subtle matt black whippings, recessed ‘Black OPS’ branding, matt black alignment marks, a 1K carbon line clip and a machined metal butt cap, which can be customised using the replacement cap supplied, designed for use with locking butt rests (such as a ‘butt lock’). Together, these features give this rod a character as exceptional as its technical specification suggests. The Scope range has always been based on the concept of ‘doing more with less’. The Black OPS GR series takes this philosophy to its ultimate expression, offering the most advanced, refined and technically accomplished Scope rods ever designed.
