A line whose weight is half a size heavier than the standard (a WF5F weighs the equivalent of « WF5.5F »). The ultimate versatile line for the angler who fishes subsurface flies until the hatch occurs, then switches to dries for maximum application versatility.
The medium head length and the weight of the Gold XP make it the most versatile line in our Gold range. The extra power compared to the classic RIO Gold allows the Gold XP to excel across the widest variety of techniques and casting distances, delivering a true range of performance. With a perfect balance between long-distance line control thanks to its mid-length rear taper and a balanced belly for better turnover of indicators and nymphs, the Gold XP is equally at home delivering dries to distance, heavier rigs into deeper water, and quick casts when required.
Thanks to its mid-length front taper of 1.70m (in WF5F) the Gold XP is always fully capable of delivering delicate, precise presentations. The added weight also makes the line more comfortable for fishing at shorter distances, typical of wading on small streams.
This line is built with RIO's low-stretch ConnectCore Plus (Elite only), which results in incredible levels of sensitivity while casting and fishing - allowing better strike detection, faster hooksets and much better control when landing a fish. In addition, this line is fitted with SlickCast, the technology that provides superb slickness and superior durability.
