The Kamakura sharpening process lets you use a point as sharp as that of a hand-sharpened hook, effortlessly and without wasting time. Because the Kamakura Wide Gape has a much sharper, much finer and therefore more delicate point than the original version, it may be necessary to change the hook after every catch.

This model features an eye slightly tilted inwards, a short shank, a very pronounced bend and an in-turned point. It can be used with various floating or dense presentations and once it hooks it usually remains set. The points are protected by a wax cap that must be carefully removed before use, and they are supplied in boxes of ten, each with a slot for every hook. Available in sizes 5, 6 or 8, with or without a barb.
