The Murray cod is an impressive member of the Percichthyidae family. Despite its name, the species is not closely related to cod. It is an iconic Australian fish and is widely recognized around the world as one of the top predatory fish, feeding on other fish, crustaceans and invertebrates. Although it is a commercially important species, the Murray cod is vulnerable to changes in its environment and must be conserved.
