the neon tetra (or blue neon) is a small fish with multiple colors. it is native to south america, being found in the amazon and its tributaries. it can also be found in brazil, peru and colombia. it is a very popular aquarium fish because it is easy to keep and care for. this species lives in freshwater and fairly cool water between 20 and 26 degrees celsius. the tetra is a peaceful fish that should be kept in a small group of 6 to 10 individuals. it is an omnivorous fish and can be fed with all kinds of dry foods such as flakes, but prefers live or frozen food.
