Presentation for unweighted squid jigs: THE “TATAKI”!
The TATAKI is used while drifting to cover a wide area. In general, you will have a better chance near rocks, seagrass and wrecks, areas rich in food for cuttlefish and squid.

Rig the squid jigs on droppers, tying them with a knot directly to the main line. By spacing them 20 cm apart, you can rig between 2 and 5 this way. As a terminal, choose a weight or a vertical squid jig depending on the current. The size of the squid jigs used can vary from 5 cm to 10 cm.

The presentation remains simple and effective. The idea is to make the rig vibrate through the different layers of water in order to find the school of squid. Start near the bottom by literally shaking your rod for about ten seconds. The squid jigs then imitate a school of panicked fish. Stop the presentation and wait a few seconds. It is during this pause that the cephalopods usually strike. If you don’t get any bites, lift your rig a few metres and start again. By repeating this up to the surface, you thus work each layer of water precisely.

A cuttlefish is most likely to be caught near the bottom. A squid will put up a stronger fight than a cuttlefish. Set the hook firmly but bring in your catch gently so as not to tear the fragile tentacles.

You can attach the squid jigs to the main line with a 1 or 2 cm loop. The action of the squid jigs will then be wider and slower.
