If this hook has been specially designed for stiff leaders and rigs such as the chod rig or the hinged stiff rig, it is also suitable for other floating presentations. Its eye turned outwards allows a leader to curve fully up to the hook when used with a stiff rig, and it has a slightly thicker section than the iconic Wide Gape, from which it derives its shape. It is an incredibly strong hook, as Darrell Peck could attest, having landed carp of over 30 kg with the size 8 version. This hook features a very sharp, slightly in-turned point and a barb sized to ensure secure holding without impeding penetration. The Choddy is available barbed or barbless, in sizes 12, 10, 8, 6 or 4, and supplied in packets of ten hooks.
