The Baitrunner X-Aero 4000 is Shimano's premium compact Baitrunner reel, designed for specialists and competition feeder anglers who want a free spool. The Baitrunner X-Aero 4000 is highly regarded. If you're looking for a reel for light carp fishing, specimen hunting or competition feeder fishing for carp, the 4000 model is the ideal choice. Shimano's famous, easy-to-use free spool is a reassuring advantage when fishing self-hooking rigs, especially for carp and barbel when takes are often sudden and very aggressive. When engaged, the spool pays out line with minimal friction until you pick up the rod and turn the handle, which instantly engages the front brake and lets you continue the fight. Although relatively small in size, the Baitrunner X-Aero 4000 is remarkably powerful and, over the years, it has helped land many specimen fish of exceptional size. The X-SHIP gearing allows an efficient, smooth retrieve under pressure and, combined with the high-torque 4.8:1 gear ratio and S A-RB bearings, produces impressive winding power. The large-diameter AR-C spool improves casting performance and allows the use of thicker monofilaments with minimal issues, although it is also perfectly suited to finer braids. You can pair the X-Aero 4000 with many Shimano rods for specimen, specialist and feeder use. For small carp or stalking, choose the shorter or lighter Tribal rods. For barbel, match the reel with a specialist rod and for feeder fishing, especially for carp and tench, choose one of the medium or heavy Aero feeder rods.
