It is a group of decapod crustaceans. There are nearly 7,000 species of crabs worldwide. They are found in all the oceans, in freshwater and even in terrestrial habitats. Many crabs, like some in our collections, are skilled swimmers and can swim in all directions. Crabs feed on small marine organisms and the organic matter they find on the seabed. Crabs are important to the economies of several countries and are highly appreciated by chefs and cooks around the world.
