The Betta is a very common aquarium fish native to the tropical freshwaters of Southeast Asia; it is called pla-kad in Thai. It is a magnificent fish that is very colorful on its flanks and fins. This species generally prefers to live in relatively warm water (26-30° degrees Celsius) and rich in vegetation. Males tend to protect their territory and be aggressive toward each other. It is therefore necessary not to house them together in confined volumes of water.
