Designed for river barbel fishing and used by all of our specialists, this groundbait is a mix of hemp pellets and coarsely crushed halibut pellets. This mix is perfect for use with a cage feeder, mesh feeder, river feeder or for hand baiting. It also makes an excellent base for a PVA stick mix or a soft spod mix.
Used on the feeder, it can be prepared to achieve a sticky mix, which makes it effective even in high-water conditions. The larger particle size allows the bait to break down and release gradually from the feeder.
The ground hemp releases a light oil that disperses instantly, even in cold weather, providing immediate attraction. The heavier oils from the halibut pellets, meanwhile, are released more slowly, continuing to diffuse into the current and drawing fish to the feeder over a long period. The variation in particle size creates a true « scent trail »: the smaller particles drift with the current, guiding fish toward the larger pieces that remain around the feeder.
Dai Gribble explains : « When I fish on rivers, I always have a bag of Hemp Hali Crush with me. It’s the ideal mix for the feeder because you can easily adjust it according to the strength of the current. Made of hemp and halibut pellets, it contains everything needed to attract shoals of barbel on rivers like the Severn or the Wye, or isolated fish on less productive waterways. Paired with an O halibut pellet as bait, it’s a winning combo. »
Preparation instructions Hemp Hali Crush is very simple to prepare. Pour the contents of the 2 kg bag into a round bucket, add about 1.5 pints of water for most situations and mix thoroughly. Then let it sit for 30 minutes so the bait can fully absorb the moisture. For optimal results, rub the mixture between the palms of your hands to remove lumps and obtain a homogeneous texture.
During fishing, sun and wind can slightly dry the bait. To avoid this, cover it with a damp towel or simply add a little water before remixing.
