The emperor angelfish (Pomacanthus imperator) is a beautifully colored member of the Pomacanthidae family. The species has a wide Indo-Pacific distribution and can even be found in Hawaii. It reaches a length of about 40 cm and juveniles have remarkably different patterns compared to adults. It is an omnivorous species and feeds on sponges, algae and small organisms. The emperor angelfish is a very popular aquarium fish because of its wonderful coloration.
