The Red Piranha (Pygocentrus natteréri) is a freshwater predator. It is regarded as the most dangerous member of the piranha family. It is native to South America, mainly the Amazon. It is a very interesting aquarium fish that likes to live in a community with other piranhas. Because they are naturally aggressive, it can be problematic to integrate them with other species of fish. The piranha needs an aquarium of sufficient volume, with, if possible, shaded areas where it can take refuge. They have a carnivorous diet: ideally live prey.
