The flathead (Platycephalus fuscus), or dusky flathead, is the largest member of the Platycephalidae family. The species can be found in estuaries as well as in tidal channels and shallow coastal bays. It is a narrow, long fish that can reach more than one metre in length, weighing over 12 kg, although most specimens are around 50 cm. It is highly prized by anglers and chefs for its delicious taste.
