Crabs are a group of decapod crustaceans. There are nearly 7 thousand species of crabs in the world. They are found in all the oceans, in fresh water and even in terrestrial habitats. Many crabs, like some in our collections, are skilled swimmers and can swim in all directions. Crabs feed on small marine organisms and on the organic matter they find on the seabed. Crabs are important to the economies of several countries and are highly appreciated by chefs around the world.
