Method feeder fishing is one of the most popular techniques among modern competitive anglers. This means that fish have often already been caught several times with this method and therefore become more wary, or that they have changed their feeding behaviour on certain waters.

Des Shipp noticed that he was getting many strikes without real takes: the fish would hit the feeder to knock the groundbait out without touching the bait. As a result, the hook was left isolated, without groundbait around it, which completely negates the effectiveness of method feeder fishing. We therefore decided to design a bait that is stickier, firmer and denser, easy to compact on the method feeder, ideal for this type of situation.

The 50:50 Method Paste Natural has a high protein content from fish meals and crushed pellets. This composition allows it to compact well around the feeder and to withstand the impact of the cast, the descent into the water and the head shakes of fish trying to dislodge the groundbait. It is also for this reason that it has become very popular for method feeder fishing in deep water, both in the UK and in Europe.

The 50:50 Method Paste Natural has the same colour as fish pellets, making it perfect for waters where these are widely used.

This groundbait is not limited to method feeder use. Thanks to its high fish meal content, it can also be used to make a paste for pole fishing: simply add water gradually until you reach the desired consistency, more or less fluid according to preference.

Andy Findlay (inventor of the method feeder) explains:
"On heavily fished or fish-rich waters, I use the 50:50 for the method feeder, because it's a sticky mix that compacts perfectly. I know it always reaches the bottom intact around the feeder, and that it resists the little pulls from the fish. That guarantees that the groundbait stays exactly where I want it: on and around the feeder, forming a small compact mat with the hookbait presented just above it."

Preparation instructions
The 50:50 Method Paste Natural is very easy to prepare. Pour the contents of the 2 kg bag into a round bucket, fill a 2-pint maggot box with water, then pour this water over the dry mix. Mix thoroughly and let rest for 30 minutes so the groundbait absorbs the moisture. For optimal results, then pass the mix through a sieve to remove lumps and obtain a homogeneous texture. The bait is then ready to use.

When fishing, the sun and wind can slightly dry out the mix. To prevent this, cover it with a damp towel or simply add a little water before reworking it.
