The orca is the largest representative of the dolphin family in the order of cetaceans. Orcas, or killer whales, often form pods and have a cosmopolitan distribution. It is distinguished by its black and white marked body. Its shape, powerful body, intelligence and behavior are emblematic of a perfect predator. They are considered superpredators in the regions where they are present. Orcas feed on marine mammals and fish. Killer whales are popular in aquariums but they do not fare well in captivity.
