Method feeder fishing is one of the most popular techniques among modern match anglers. That means fish have often already been taken on this method and therefore become more wary, or they change the way they feed on some waters.

Des Shipp noticed during his sessions that he was getting lots of knocks without real bites. Fish were hitting the method feeder, knocking the bait off without touching the hook, leaving the hook isolated — which defeats the purpose of the technique. To address this issue, we designed a bait that is stickier, denser and easier to compact on the method feeder, specifically for these situations.

The 50:50 Method Paste Green has a high protein content from fish meals and crushed pellets. This composition allows it to adhere perfectly to the feeder and withstand the impact of casting, the fall into the water and the small tugs from fish trying to dislodge the bait. This is why it has become a go-to choice for method feeder fishing in deep water, both in the UK and Europe.

The 50:50 Method Paste Green has a rich dark green colour, perfectly suited to commercial waters.

This bait is not limited to use on the method feeder. Thanks to its high fishmeal content, it can also be used to make a paste for pole fishing: simply add more water until you reach the desired consistency, softer or firmer depending on preference.

Des Shipp (English international angler) explains:
"The 50:50 is my favourite mix for deep-water fishing, especially when I'm targeting bream and a few carp. Its strong fishmeal smell keeps fish on the spot for a long time. The green version is particularly effective in slightly clear waters. What I like most is that it works equally well on the method feeder and the long pole — one mix is enough for the whole session."

Preparation instructions
The 50:50 Method Paste Green is very simple to prepare. Pour the 2 kg bag of groundbait into a round bucket, fill a maggot box with 2 pints of water, then pour this water over the dry mix. Mix thoroughly and leave to stand for 30 minutes so the bait can absorb all the moisture. For best results, then pass the mix through a sieve to remove any lumps and obtain a uniform texture. The bait is then ready to use.

During fishing, sun and wind can slightly dry the mix. To prevent this, cover it with a damp towel or simply add a little water before mixing it again.
