The R7 DD is the most technical crankbait in the entire range. It's the lure Willem uses when every detail matters: the depth, the current, the retrieval angle, the braid, the leader, the flexibility of the rod tip. The whole setup must be perfectly calibrated to reach 4 m and beyond. Specifically designed to target zander at depth, it's a competition-grade weapon.
How to fish it — Essential rules • VERY SLOWLY: If you retrieve too fast, the deep diver veers off and doesn't reach its depth. • DO NOT touch the bottom: Unlike other crankbaits! The DD should remain about 1 m above the bottom. On contact, it becomes uncontrollable. • Fish WITH the current: Cast in the direction of the current, retrieve slowly. Not against the current. • Zanders come up for the lure even if it swims 1-2 m above them. • Strikes very often occur when the lure rises at the end of the retrieve.
